Grooveline started life in 1996, broadcasting from 13-year-old Stephen
Howie's house in Saltcoats, North Ayrshire on 49 MHz from an adapted
walkie-talkie!
In April 1998, the show started on Hospital Broadcasting Service Ayrshire
(HBSA), where it continued for 3 and a half years. By mid-2001, the show
took up 12 hours of the station every Sunday.
In 2001 and 2002 the show appeared in England, launching on GK Radio in
Staffordshire. Grooveline also appeared on Kic FM in Walsall and
Wolverhampton throughout 2003.
After a break of a year so, in September 2004 Grooveline launched on its
current home of Blast 1386 in Reading, where the show has become popular
with listeners within the town, and round the world - with listeners in
countries like Brazil, Russia, Thailand, Japan, Saudi Arabia and...Scotland!
Also, since 2004 the show has appeared on Armada FM in Plymouth, Wyke FM in
Hull and Island 88.6 FM across Zakynthos, Greece. After a break of just over a year, Grooveline returned to Blast 1386 in 2009.
Guests on the show have included Frank McComb, Kaldera, Atar (from Atar & The Funkadrome) and Bluey from Incognito.
