Born in 1983, Stephen grew up in the Scottish west coast town of Saltcoats
listening to the likes of Shalamar, Earth Wind & Fire and Kool and the Gang
thanks to his mother's partner John, a soul and funk DJ in the west of
Scotland and resorts of Spain throughout the 80s and 90s. Then, the
Christmas present that changed it all - a 3 CD compilation of Earth Wind &
Fire from his dad. Grooveline was conceived on that very day.
Moving to England to persue a degree in Media Technology, Stephen left
Saltcoats in 2001 for the county town of Stafford, in the West Midlands. On
graduation in 2004, Stephen secured a job in Reading, west of London.
Radio has been a life-long passion of Stephen's - both being on it, and
listening to it. Besides music and presenting Grooveline, DXing takes up the
rest of Stephen's spare time. His full time job is also in the broadcasting
industry.
Stephen wants to thank John and his dad for laying the foundations of his
musical tastes, Bob Goertz for giving him the opportunity to broadcast on
Blast 1386, Hazel McMillan for keeping those wheels turning and on-track and
Dustin Soper for this wonderful website.
